Team Bios.
Ronnessa Edwards
Ronnessa is a Masters Level Clinician seeking licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She earned a Master’s degree in
Clinical Psychology from Eastern University and a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology from the University of Pittsburgh at
Johnstown. Her background includes over 17 years’ experience in civil service, mentoring BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of
Color) youth who identified as members of the LGBTQIA+ community in the juvenile justice system and delivering individual and
group programming for incarcerated adults for rehabilitation and re-entry back into society, Ronnessa identifies as a social justice
agent who supervises investigations of civil rights’ complaints and delivers trainings on race-based trauma, trauma and
discrimination, Diversity Equity and Inclusion, and other civil rights related topics. She also advocates for mental health initiatives
relating to victims of racial injustice, inequity, and other illegal forms of discrimination.
Ronnessa recognizes the existing disparities in BIPOC populations’ access to quality mental health services, due to racial injustice,
and the harmful implications it has on BIPOC individuals. She engages in culturally competent therapy, grounded in various
evidence-based treatment practices, to empower the individual to work through past and current traumas and the everyday stressors
of life, in a non-judgmental fashion.
